Peer Parent Advocate Program
Parents Supporting Parents through the Reunification Journey
Peer Parent Advocates are individuals who have previously interacted with Child Protective Services (CPS) or the Department of Family Services, having faced the difficult experience of having their child(ren) removed from their care. These advocates have successfully navigated the complex system and have reunited with their child(ren), which empowers them to assist other parents going through similar trials. Their primary focus is to help these parents transform harmful behavioral patterns to achieve reunification with their children. The process of engaging with the child welfare system can feel daunting and isolating, and the support of someone who has endured the same experience can be invaluable. Peer Parent Advocates not only understand the emotional and logistical challenges involved but are also committed to advocating on behalf of families who require assistance.
