Differential Response Program
The Differential Response Program is an alternative to the traditional Child Protective Services (CPS) investigations. The Differential Response (DR) team works in collaboration with Clark County CPS to assess families with low to moderate Tier-3 neglect reports referred through the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline. The program is designed to help families break the cycle of CPS involvement without removing the children. The DR Team conducts assessments during home and school visits focusing on engaging rather than investigating by partnering with the families' identifying the barriers and needs of the family. Our goal is to reduce the risk of future CPS involvement by providing a unique family intervention. This allows the family to move forward independently and productively avoid future CPS investigations while increasing a family's access to needed supports and services while allowing children to remain in the home. Our program assists approximately 60 families a month.
The Differential Response Team responds to Tier-3 CPS Reports that involve Children 0-18 years old. These reports include:
- Educational Neglect
- Medical Neglect
- Environmental Neglect
- Inadequate Supervision
- Inadequate Shelter
- Inadequate Food
- Lockout (Age 13+)
